Diamonds in Paris

BY MEENAL MISTRY
           THE WALL SREET JOURNAL
Aug. 23, 2012

IT’S FITTING THAT THE SHAPE of the Place VendĂ´me in Paris resembles an emerald-cut
diamond. For nearly 120 years, the world’s leading high jewelers have lined the
gently beveled square. Frédéric Boucheron was the first tenant of the sort, moving
his store into No. 26 in 1893, just five years before the Ritz hotel opened its
doors nearby. >>>

By Bob Pisani

Diamonds. For thousands of years, they have been believed to bring good luck (and
bad luck!) – health, wealth, and protection against most of the ills that can befall

Should Get to Know

By Jacob Harper
        August 27, 2012

“It’s all in who you know,” they say. Fair enough; people are more likely to help
those whom they know (and like) than those they don’t know (and actively despise.)
But who are these “people” we have to know? And how do you get to know them? The
incomplete answer you’ll hear a lot is “get out there and network.” >>>

The Retailer’s Perspective: Adding back

Chuck Koehler
Southern Jewelry News
       August  2012

back. >>>

Emili Vesilind
             August 23, 2012

A spiffy suit and a genuine smile go a long way with jewelry shoppers-but if your
staff isn’t armed with concrete sales skills, you’re essentially shoving them into
a snowstorm without a winter coat. Which is why we asked Duane Sparks, chairman
of retail consultancy firm, The Sales Board, and creator of the Action Selling sales
program, to share his plan for training sales professionals. >>>

I came down here was in 2007, and on my third day here I found a carat and a half,”
Anderson said.

former investment banker and the best-selling author of The Entrepreneur Equation.
