In early July, I received an email inviting me to a bloggers-only preview scheduled for July 29 at the LUXURY PrivĂ© show at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria hotel. For a moment, I wondered if I was even qualified to attend.

The pieces, hidden in a locked strongbox in a traveling trunk, were purchased by a fan for ÂŁ100 in 2006 at an estate sale at Greenway, Christie’s home in Devon, England. The fan who purchased the trunk did not open the strongbox for four years; when she did, she found the jewels and gold coins.>>>

During the eight-minute call, we hear the hapless retention rep on the other end refuse to cancel and repeatedly talk up Comcast (“Why do you not want the best Internet?” he keeps asking) >>>
